HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College Women's Basketball found themselves in a 14-point hole at half time, then came out and outplayed the Mounties in the final two quarters.
Hilbert pulled within three points with 1:30 left in the game, but Mount Aloysius held on to win, 54-48 over the Hawks, knocking them out of postseason action.

HIGHLIGHTS
Alesia Hamm led the Hawks with 20 points and nine rebounds, hitting 7-of-15 from the floor and making 5-of-6 at the foul line.
Kelsey Schlagenhauf tossed in 14 points, making all four free throw attempts and
Maria Spinelli came up big pulling down nine rebounds off the bench.
Mackenzie Catan added seven rebounds, led with four assists and scored five points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was an evenly played session, until the Mounties finished the 10-minutes period holding the Hawks scoreless the final three minutes while going on a 6-0 run to build a 15-8 lead.
- Catan and Schlagenhauf combined for four quick points setting the 16-12 score but Mount Aloysius extended their margin to a 31-17 half time advantage because of missed shots or Hilbert turnovers.
- Hamm connected twice from the field, and Schlagenhauf made a jumper in the paint before Cusack hit back-to-back three-point shots from opposite sides of the floor to inch the Hawks into a 38-29 score heading into the fourth quarter.
- Hamm and Schlagenhauf were a perfect 4-of-4 at the charity stripe setting a seven-point margin early in the fourth. The Mounties struck from downtown and stretched their lead back to 11 points, but Hamm responded in kind with her own hit from downtown, then finished a fast break layup making it a 48-42 score. After three scoreless minutes, Catan drilled a deep shot setting the three-point difference and put the Mounties at the foul line down the stretch.
GAME NOTES
- Hilbert did a great job limiting looks by the AMCC league leader in scoring and rebounding, freshman Molly Kosmack. They doubled her in the paint and kept her off the glass, as she finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
- Mount Aloysius built their half time lead off made three pointers, hitting 5 from beyond the arc.
- By the final horn, the Hawks connected on 30.4% of their field goal attempts while the Mounties made 33.9%
Hilbert concluded the 2023-24 season with a 4-20 overall record while finishing in a 7th place tie with a 5-13 AMCC record.
