LATROBE, Pa - The Hilbert College Women's Bowling team went 1-3 in the blind draw rounds at the Brother Pat Lacey Memorial Tournament hosted by Saint Vincent College this morning.
The Hawks, who ranked 6th after four rounds, won their play-off match and finished the day in 5th place with a 2-3 record in the Total Pin Fall tournament.
Hilbert dropped their first three matches, falling by 68 pins to the AMCC league-leaders, Saint Vincent College Tomcats (852-784). The Hawks then lost by 11 pins to Pitt-Greensburg (874-837) before falling to Penn State Behrend by 41 (804-763).
The Hawks rebounded and turned their final two matches of the day into victories. They beat Baldwin Wallace by 66 points (731-665) before getting a revenge victory over Penn State Behrend in the play-off match (777-737) by 40 pins to take 5th place.
Hilbert knocked down a total of 3718 pins (783.6 average) vs their opponents who combined for 3932 (786.4 ave).
Four different players led the Hawks in five games by rolling the highest within the team score.
Ashley Dixon (177.4 ave) threw the highest score of the day – a 234 against Saint Vincent College and led with a 194 against Baldwin Wallace.
Paige Angle (149.5) was the high scorer (199) against Greensburg,
Jenna Angle (138.8) against Penn State Behrend (191) and
Paige Mullen's 222 led the Hawks to the play-off win over Behrend as she closed the day with a 149.2 average.
Hilbert (19-33) return to Classic Lanes February 24th and 25th for their final tournament of the 2023-24 season. The Hawks will compete at the Niagara University spring invite.
