GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Hilbert College Women's Basketball team matched efforts with Pitt-Greensburg this afternoon in every category except rebounds and free throws. The Bobcat benefited from 17 offensive rebounds while sinking 17 made foul shots, earning a 65-58 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory at home this afternoon.
HIGHLIGHTS
Three Hawks notched double figure scoring led by
Alesia Hamm's 21 points.
Kelsey Schlagenhauf tossed in 20 points, hitting 8-of-15 from the floor, and
Belle Oakley connected on 3-of-7 from beyond the arc to add 11 points all in the fourth-quarter run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Greensburg held a 16-14 advantage at the end of the first quarter, hitting a 3-pointer and making one more free throw than the Hawks. Hilbert forced five Bobcat turnovers but hit 37.5% from the field.
- After falling behind by eight points on multiple occasions, Hilbert fought back and made it five point game before intermission. Hamm hit three times from the floor, Schlagenhauf made both attempts from the foul line while scoring in the lane, and Mackenzie Catan was credited with a pair of blocked shots to keep Hilbert close.
- Hilbert went 5-of-6 at the foul line, committed one fewer turnover than Greensburg but were outscored 19-14 in the third quarter. Greensburg scored 14 points in the paint, seven points off fast break hits and held the Hawks to 35.7% field goal percentage.
- After Greensburg built their largest lead (51-40) at 9:02 in the fourth quarter. Belle Oakley knocked down two three pointers, one that started and the other that finished a run which made it a three-point game (56-53) game at 2:25. Catan also struck from down town before the Hawks began to foul late the game. Greensburg kept Hilbert at bay by connecting on seven points from the foul line.
GAME NOTES
Both Hilbert and Greensburg made 22 baskets, sinking an identical 4-of-18 from the three-point line. They each recorded eight steals and were within two turnovers of each other.
The difference in the game was at the foul line and offensive boards which Greensburg gained seven more points from the charity stripe and kept play alive by grabbing nine more offensive rebounds than the Hawks.

Hilbert closed their 2023-24 season with back-to-back double header games in the Hafner Recreation Center next week. Hilbert will host Wells College February 14th with a 5pm tip-off and then celebrate their senior athletes,
