Men's Basketball Shoots to Third Win of Season

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Hilbert Men's Basketball continued to push the pace as the Hawks stormed into the JMW Recreation Center and exploded for an 87-65 non-conference victory over Keuka College this afternoon.

For the first time in three years, the Hawk scored 54 points in the opening half today, and they rolled to their fourth consecutive victory over Keuka.

HIGHLIGHTS

Shaheem Ellis produced a team-best 23 points, four assist, three steal performance while Larry Morse tacked another double-double to his young career pairing 21 points with 12 rebounds.

Nathan Moore added a career-high 17 points, going 5-for-6 from the 3-point line.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Hilbert never trailed in the game and led wire-to-wire despite a better second-half effort by Keuka, Hilbert's first-half explosion proved to be too much to overcome.

Hilbert opened the game by hitting 7-of-9 shots from the field which included a perfect 3-for-3 beyond the arc as they built a 13-4 lead just two and half minutes into play.

They continued to attack the rim the rest of the half and built a 24-14 margin in rebounds while scoring 30 points in the paint by intermission.  Hilbert caused the Storm major issues defensively as they converted 8-of-9 from the 3-point line (88.9%).

The Hawks offensive production cooled after the break as the royal and white hit 41.9% from the floor (4-of-8 3-point).  The Storm outscored Hilbert, 39-31, and they led with a 21-17 advantage on the boards.
