HAMBURG, N.Y. - Hilbert College Men's Soccer hosted the reigning AMCC league champions this afternoon and stayed with Mount Aloysius College for a while in the opening half.
The Hawks dropped a 10-1 loss to the Mounties who scored two quick goals in the opening five minutes which led to a 6-1 halftime margin.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mount Aloysius scored the game's first goal off a tricky shot that rolled up and over
Daniel Downes shoulder to the back of the net in the first two minutes. Their next two goals were finishing shots off corner kicks, one in the air and the second one down low on the grass as it rolled in backwards.
Hilbert got on the board after
Carter Burke's corner kick landed in a perfect space for
Jason Vullo to head it to the back of the net in the 17th minute, but the Mounties closed the half with two scores off quick, short passes into or within the box for the 6-1 lead at the break.
Hilbert continued to battle through the second half but the Hawks were unable to create opportunities against the 2-1 Mounties.
