THE OPPONENT

The Mustangs come into the contest 3-4 overall and 2-2 in Empire 8 play after falling to SUNY Brockport last week 24-0. Prior to the defeat to the Golden Eagles, Morrisville won a pair of close conference matchups at home against Utica (28-26) and Alfred University (24-14). The Mustangs have enjoyed success at Drake Field, with an impressive 3-1 home record.

Junior quarterback Christopher Stancarone has commanded the huddle for the Mustangs in the team's last three games, leading SUNY Morrisville to a 2-1 record. The Levittown, NY native completed 27 of his 59 passing attempts with 281 yards, 3 interceptions and 2 touchdowns in this span. Stancarone has also carried the ball 47 times for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns while leading the team to 17.3 points per game.

Isaac Sylvain has handled much of the work on the ground for Morrisville with 108 carries for 490 yards and three scores. Quamel Jarvis has been the favorite target of the Mustang QBs as the senior tight end paces the team with 27 receptions for 366 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Evan Salvaggio and Camerin Camacho are the leading tacklers for a unit that allows 21 points a contest with 62 and 61 respectively. The Mustangs have consistently forced opposing offenses to turn the ball over all year, with 16 takeaways in seven games. Scotty Howard leads the way with 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

The Mustangs are coached by Ed Raby Jr. who is in his fourth season leading the team. Raby was elevated to the interim role for the Mustangs in the spring of 2020 after serving as defensive coordinator for Morrisville for three seasons, while also overseeing the safety unit and serving as the program's academic coordinator.

Raby came to SUNY Morrisville from Allegheny College in 2017 where he served in various roles for three seasons, including three on the defensive side of the ball as the defensive line coach in 2014 and 2016, as well as the linebackers coach in 2015.

Prior to his stint with the Gators, Raby served on the staff at Alfred University as the defensive line coach and tight ends coach, also fulfilling the role as the junior varsity offensive coordinator in 2013. His efforts with the Saxons led to a 10-4 overall record, three all-conference selections within the Empire 8, and a D3football.com All-Region and All-American selection on the defensive line.

LAST GAME

A week ago, Hilbert dropped to 0-5 in the Empire 8 after a fourth-quarter comeback from Hartwick College. Hilbert held the lead after the first and third quarters, but a 20-point effort from Hartwick in the fourth quarter would be the difference.

Hilbert rushed for over 200 yards for the second time this season a week ago. The Hawks had seven players tote the rock in the contest, with Bryce Robinson leading the way with twelve rushes for 101 yards and a score. Clifford Zeigler also chipped in with 29 yards on eight attempts and his first two career touchdowns. Robinson also caught a pair of passes from Brody Hopkins for 51 yards.

On the other side of the ball, Da'von Cockrell led the way with eight tackles, while Matt Bertke made three stops behind the line of scrimmage. Scotty Winchell added three tackles to the team's lone pass breakup of the game. Imari Jenkins was also heavily involved for the Hawks as the junior interior lineman tallied four tackles, a sack, and a blocked kick.
