HOW IT HAPPENED -  Keuka
  • Hilbert was slow out of the game and suffered a 25-8 loss before they rebounded and exploded for a 25-19 win.  The Hawks built a 12-point lead in the second set before settling in to even the match at 1-1.
  • The Hawks pulled back to a one-point deficit in the third set (18-19) before falling 25-19 and then found themselves trailing 16-6 in the fourth set but ran out of time to pull out a win (25-15).
  • Setter Jessee Jonathan quarterbacked the Hawks with a team-best five kills (.380), two service aces, 12 assists and added 21 digs.  Natalie Ruhlmann led with 22 digs and Michaela Rice chipped in 14.  Katie Kociszewski was credited with two blocks at the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED - SUNY Canton
  • The opening set featured six lead changes with Hilbert holding their final lead at 21-20.  From that point forward, Hilbert knotted the set at 22's,  24's and 25's, before surrendering the next two points in the loss.
  • The Hawks dominated the second and third sets early only to have to battle to the finish for the 2-1 lead.
  • Hilbert jumped out early in the final set, maintained a nice cushion until the Roos rallied from a 23-16 deficit to force a 23-23 score.  Both teams traded points until 26-26 and Hilbert won the match off a Gianna Smalley service ace.
  • A trio of Hawks hit for eight kills each (Kociszewski, Emily Garnett, Rice) and Gianna Smalley led with five service aces.
  • Maria Spinelli was credited with four solo blocks, Jonathan dished 28 assists off 40 Hilbert kills and Ruhlmann kept play alive picking up 18 digs in the win.
