Greenville, Penn. – The Hilbert College men's lacrosse team opened their 2023 season on the road at the Thiel College Tomcats with a 19-6 non-confernece defeat.
Game Summary - Joey DiMaria scored the first goal of the men's lacrosse season to tie the game at 1 early in the first quarter. The Tomcats scored the next two before
Ryan Davis launched a rocket of a shot to make the game 3-2 assisted by DiMaria.
Roland Jimerson scored his first goal for Hilbert since the 2015 season assisted by
Jack Scherrer that tied the game at 3. That's Scherrer's first college point. The Tomcats netted one more before the end of the quarter to make it 4-3 after 1.
The second quarter saw Thiel score 6 unanswered goals to take a 10-3 halftime lead. The third quarter saw the two teams exchange goals back and forth. The Tomcats tallied the first goal in the third quarter before DiMaria notched his second goal of the game on a man-up opportunity. Thiel scored again and Davis followed it up with his second goal of the game on another snipe from up high. Thiel scored the final goal of the third quarter and increased their advantage to 13-5.
The fourth and final quarter saw the Tomcats scored six more before
Jason Sage scored his first goal of the new year. The final score was 19-6.
What's Next – The Hawks return to action at home on Wednesday, March 1
st, against local opponent Medaille University at 4PM.
