PITTSBURGH P.A. - The Hawks get to take on first place La Roche for the third time this season and hope to get a better result than in the past. The Hawks lost both of their past matchups, 72-44 and a very close 65-64.
This time around the Hawks battled hard all night but the La Roche offense was too much to handle. La Roche would go on to win the game by a score of 83-49 and end the Hawks season.Â

Ashley Schroeder led the Hawks today in scoring today with 19 points. She was also tied for a team high in rebounds with Alesia Hamm, they both recorded 7. Grace Zabawa led the Hawks with 2 assists today. She also earned 5 points and 2 steals.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED

Chloe Champagne started off the scoring for the Hawks today hitting a 3 pointer after taking a pass from Maria Spinelli shortly into the game. Quickly after Ashley Schroeder would pick up her first points of the game after grabbing an offensive rebound and scoring on a layup. La Roche kept up with their pressure and managed to gain a 10 point lead at the end of the first quarter of play.Â

Monika Allen got on the board for the Hawks at the start of the second quarter but this would be the only points that they would score until Chloe Champagne made a free throw with 6 seconds remaining in the half. La Roche's strong play helped them to gain a massive lead after the first 20 minutes of play and it did not look possible to stop them. They had a 27 point lead going into the third quarter.

In the third quarter the Hawks offense really began to surge but they were unable to stop the division leaders' strong offense. Katie Kociszewski and Mackenzie Catan both managed to get on the scoreboard here in the third quarter off of made layups. La Roche's lead just continued to grow though no matter what the Hawks did and they entered the final quarter of play with a 39 point deficit.Â

The fourth quarter started off with a made jump shot by Ashley Schroeder which was then followed up by a made layup from Alesia Hamm. The Hawks attempted to make a late game surge with a made 3 from Mackenzie Catan but it would not be enough and eventually the Hawks would fall and end their season.

GAME NOTES
It was a very even battle in the rebounding category, La Roche had 35 rebounds while Hilbert had 34. The big difference maker was that La Roche managed to turn these into points much more often than the Hawks with 14 second chance points. The Hawks shot 20 for 61 today while also shooting 3 for 12 from 3 point range and 6 for 8 from the free throw line.

Hilbert concluded their season with an overall record of 11-16. La Roche advances to the championship on February 25th where they will take on either No. 2 ranked Penn State Behrend or No. 3 ranked Pitt Greensburg.
