HOW IT HAPPENED – Mount St. Joseph
  • The first set was a tight game through to the 11-11 score.  The Lions went on a 5-1 run and built a large enough margin to hang on for the 25-17 victory.  Trailing 21-14, Hilbert did close the gap to 22-17 before giving MSJ the win.
  • The Hawks never led in the second set, but kept it a three-point score through to 10-7.  The Lions extended their hold on the scoreboard (14-7) before Hilbert clawed back and made it another three-point game (15-12).  Back-to-back errors by MSJ made it a 2-point spread (18-16).  The Lions pulled away with a pair of multi-point runs for the 25-17 victory.
  • Hilbert and MSJ took turns with the lead as they battle through six tied scores up to the 8-8 mark.   MSJ inched their way to a three point lead, and extended it to 19-15 before the Hawks rallied and matched the score at 19-all.  MSJ held on to win 25-22.

HOW IT HAPPENED – SUNY Potsdam
  • The first set was another tight set with  Hilbert holding a 14-12 lead.  The Hawks stretched it to 18-16, but the Bears tacked on five straight points to go up 21-18 and held on for the 25-21 win.
  • The Bears built an early two-point lead 6-4 then tacked on a few points at a time to stretch it to a five point difference (11-6).  Hilbert got within two, (20-18) after Converse and Overhoff earned kills and Converse served an ace.  The hosts then went on to earn four of their final points at the net for the 25-21 victory.
