Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey | | Cole Klubek

Hawks Conclude Season

Pittston, Pa. – The Hilbert College Hawks ice hockey team concluded their inaugural season on the road at King's College.

How it Happened: It was a tightly contested first period until the final three minutes when the Monarchs netted their first two goals of the contest. King's added a third goal early in the second on the powerplay.

Abby Dawson collected a loose puck that was broken up by Mia Bouchard and went in on net beating netminder Syd Dahl breaking up a 4 ½ period shutout streak for Dahl, and more importantly, put the Hawks on the scoreboard in a 3-1 game.

Unfortunately, the Monarchs' fourth goal was only 13-seconds and 32-seconds later making the game 4-1 and King's never looked back adding 4 more in the third before the final buzzer sounded.
Jewely Monford made 44 saves on 50 shots. Cassie Troy relieved Jewely in the 3rd period and stopped 5 of the 7 shots she faced. Penalty trouble for both teams was a debilitating factor in today's matchup.

Year in Review: The Hawks may have dropped every game; however, it's important to highlight all the good that went on! First, they competed with two lines the whole year. That's crazy. They struck up a partnership with the Buffalo Beauts. They played outdoors and will continue to do that annually. They visited Hersheypark. They added JP the stuffed duck to the family. They never gave up.

What's Next: The Hilbert College Hawks will kick off the 2023-2024 season with four games in Western New York in October. We look forward to adding our new commits, their families, and new fans to our program in year number two. See you all then!

Special Thanks: To all the players, coaches, and trainers who made this first season memorable – we thank you! The team is the reason for everything good this season. They battled injuries, fatigue, personal life, and never gave up. The coaches shuffled more responsibilities on the fly than maybe any other staff in the country. The trainers did what they do best, "fix the ouch" and there were a lot of them. To all the Hawks involved in this hockey season, thank you!
