PITTSBURGH, P.A.- Today the Hilbert College Men's Basketball team traveled to take on AMCC opponent La Roche. In the first meeting between the two teams La Roche won 83-74. Today the Hawks lost by a score of 88-74.

HIGHLIGHTS
Quran Briggs led the Hawks in scoring with 19 points shooting 6 for 14, with Shaheem Ellis following closely behind with 17 of his own. Zach Miller earned 12 points all off of 3 pointers going 4 for 7 from behind the line. Eric Jackson led the team in rebounds with 7 while also scoring 10. Edward Perez and Desmond Davis both earned 5 rebounds as well.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED

La Roche started the game 4-0 as it took Hilbert a few minutes to find their groove. Zach Miller started the scoring for the Hawks hitting from deep. Just a couple of minutes later he would hit from 3 point range again to give the Hawks their first 6 points of the game. Quran Briggs would add 4 points of his own followed by a made 3 from Shaheem Ellis to keep the game close.Â

La Roche brought a lot of pressure and played hard which led to a 12-0 run that was eventually halted by Eric Jackson making a layup followed by a made jumpshot by Jahmel Demery. Zach Miller hit from deep 2 more times this half as it came to a close to cut the La Roche lead down to 9 points to end the first half.Â

To start out the second half La Roche would go on another good run to extend their lead to 18 points. Quran Briggs connected on back to back jump shots though to try and keep Hilbert in it. Shaheem Ellis and Eddward Perez both made shots as well but La Roche's lead continued to grow.Â

With 10 minutes remaining Hilbert was trailing by 18 points but with a late surge the Hawks managed to cut it down to only 10. Eric Jackson hit from 3 point range to continue to help the Hawk's claw back into the game. The ending of this game was a constant back and forth with both offenses draining shots. La Roche did not let Hilbert back into the game.Â

GAME NOTES
Today the Hawks made 25 of 62 shot attempts while also going 6 for 12 from behind the 3 point line and 18 of 24 on free throws. La Roche earned a large margin in their points in the paint outscoring the Hawks 46-20. Hilbert's bench had a good game scoring 23 points.Â
