HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks looked sharp in early points of set 1 maintaining the lead through 9-7. The Pioneers went on a seven-point run and went up 14-9. Hilbert responded pulling within one point (13-14) as well as (14-15) only to fall behind 20-14 after another unanswered run by the hosts. The Hawks ran out of time as their late set rally fell short. Jenna Revek led with four kills while Natalie Ruhlmann and Michaela Rice added two service aces each.
- The middle set was competitive with each team trading side-outs. A-State put together a 12-2 run taking control with a 20-9 score and then rolled to a 12-point victory. Hilbert earned six points in the set, all out of transitions kills.
- Hilbert trailed 6-5 then built a 10-6 lead. Even after Alfred State, using a 6-point run, went up 13-11, Hilbert regained the lead (14-13) and extended their hold to 19-15. The Hawks held the lead through 21-19, fell behind 23-21 and sliced the difference back to one (21-23). Alfred State put the game away with a kill and a block assist. Katie Kociszewski collected both solo blocks and Jessee Jonathan recorded a pair of service aces.
- Jenna Revak led with seven kills, and Jonathan dished 16 assists and 11 digs. Michaela Rice added five kills, two service aces, and five digs while Natalie Ruhlmann chipped in nine digs along with her two aces.
