ERIE, PA – Hilbert Women's Soccer fell 8-0 this evening on the road against Penn State Behrend. A quick start for the Lions, combined with continued pressure, was too much for the Hawks in the regular season finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Seven first half goals by the Lions helped them cruise to victory in this one. They got things going early with a goal in the second minute of the game. Four more shots and less than fifteen minutes later, the hosts had a commanding 5-0 advantage. By the time the whistle had blown for halftime, Behrend had added two more goals for the 7-0 first half lead.
In a much more defensive second half, the Hawks saw goalkeepers
Keira McFarland and
Hailey Kuder split the work in net, making four and three saves respectively. However, on their 24th attempt at goal of the half, the Lions added an eight goal in the 88th minute of the contest. This would wrap up the scoring and give them the #1 seed in the AMCC and the victory.
