GENEVA, N.Y. – Hilbert Football fell 49-3 this afternoon on the road against Hobart. Hobart scored all seven of their touchdowns in the first half to earn the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a three and out by the Hilbert offense to begin the game, a blocked punt recovered in the end zone got the hosting Statesmen on the board first.
The Hobart 7-0 advantage would soon be doubled, as another short Hilbert drive set up the Statesmen offense with good field position. Rayshawn Boswell finished off the five play, 35-yard drive with a ten-yard touchdown rush.
Another blocked
Lincoln Eagan punt once again set up the Hobart offense for success on their next drive. It was Boswell again finding the endzone, this time on a 16-yard carry. Tobias Wefering (7/7 on PATs) split the uprights for the 21-0 early lead.
After a pair of rushing scores, it was time for the hosts to get the passing game going. Quarterback Johnny Colombi tossed three straight short touchdown passes. The scores of three, eight, and four yards went to Luke Stephens, Edward Taylor, and Ahmad Crowell, respectively.
One more rushing score, this time by Taylor, made it a 49-0 game heading into the half.
The second half of this contest only saw three points, coming from the leg of Eagan on a 35-yard field goal.
