BUFFALO, N.Y. – Hilbert Men's Soccer fell 3-1 today in a tightly contested match with Pitt Greensburg. The Hawks battled all game, and unfortunately came up just short. Seniors
Reese Tomporowski and
Logan Peck were honored before the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Like he has done all season,
Jason Vullo broke free on goal and won his team an opportunity from the penalty spot early in the contest.
Andrew Herstek's attempt from the spot was stopped, but
Carter Burke was there to clean up the rebound to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead a little under seven minutes into the contest.
The lead did not last too long, as the visiting Bobcats evened up the score through a headed cross into the bottom corner of the net. The 1-1 score would hold up heading into the halftime break.
The second half saw the aggressiveness increase, as three total cards were given out. With both teams eager to avoid the draw, it would be Pitt Greensburg that broke the tie. A goal from the penalty spot in the 83
rd minute ended the stalemate. A late red card forced the Hawks to play a man down, where they conceded a third goal, putting the game away at 3-1.

- Peck made seven saves in net.
