ALFRED, N.Y. - The Hilbert Hawk's Women's Basketball team traveled today to face off with AMCC opponent Alfred State. They lost a close fought battle by a score of 49-40.

HIGHLIGHTS
Kelsey Schlagenhauf led the Hawks today in scoring. She earned 9 points shooting 2 for 4 and also earned 5 points at the free throw line shooting 5 for 6. She also had the second most rebounds on the team with 11.
Alesia Hamm led the Hawks with 12 rebounds while also scoring 8 points.
Mackenzie Catan led the Hawks with 3 assists while
Grace Zabawa led the team with 3 steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was close from opening tip off. Alesia Hamm earned Hilbert's first points of the night with a jumper that was assisted by Mackenzie Catan. Ashley Schroeder would then hit from beyond the arc a few minutes later. The first quarter would end with Alfred State leading by a score of 11-9.
- The second quarter was not one to remember for the Hawks. They only scored 4 points with a layup by Kelsey Schlagenhauf and a jumper by Mackenzie Catan. Alfred State would go on a 10-0 run to close out the first half with a lead of 24-13.
- Kelsey Schlagenhauf started off the third quarter making 2 free throws. Katie Kaciszewski also scored her only points of the game in this quarter by scoring in the paint. Hilbert outscored Alfred State in this quarter 17-14 to cut their lead down to only 8 points.
- Grace Zabawa started the fourth quarter off with 2 layups made in the paint while also scoring jumper as the Hawks tried to claw back into the game. It would not be enough as Alfred State would hold onto their lead and earn a 49-40 win.

GAME NOTES
Alfred State scored 17 points off of turnovers which earned them a huge edge in the game while Hilbert only scored 6. Hilbert's bench was a large part of why the Hawks managed to stay in the game as they scored 10 points while also holding Alfred State's bench to 0.
