Avallone Scores Hat Trick in Hawks Victory

HAMBURG, N.Y. - The Hilbert women's soccer team earned another win today beating the Wells College Express, 6-0. Great performances today included Gabrielle Avallone who scored a hat trick and Macy Kisner who scored two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hilbert started off hot today with Macy Kisner scoring a goal in the 16th minute of the game. This goal was scored from outside the box.
  • 22 minutes later Vanessa Van Slyke crossed to ball to Gabrielle Avallone who scored her first of the game.
  • At the start of the second half Madison Matuszak shot the ball with her right foot into the top left corner giving Hilbert a 3-0 lead.
  • Gabrielle Avallone took another pass from Van Slyke which she buried into the top left corner to score her second of the game and Hilbert's fourth.
  • Avallone, carrying the ball down the right sideline, beat a few defenders and eventually crossed it into the middle right to Macy Kisner. Kisner hit a right foot volley into the bottom left corner of the net to secure her second goal of the contest.
  • To conclude the scoring, Gabrielle Avallone hit a hard shot that trickled over the goalie's finger tips in the 86th minute of the game giving herself a hat trick.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Hilbert out shot their opponents 15-5 which led to a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
  • This was the eighth meeting of these two teams and Hilbert now holds 7-1 record against the Express.
  • This was the first clean sheet for the women's soccer team since 2017.
  • This was also the first time that the women's soccer team scored six or more goals since 2012 when they scored 11 goals.
  • Avallone led all players with 11 shots, six on frame, and Kisner trailed with eight (4 on target).  
  • Vanessa Van Slyke finished the game with a pair of assists and Hailey Kuder earned her first collegiate career shutout victory.
 
UP NEXT

Next on the schedule for the women's soccer team is on September 28th at Hawk Field when they take on Elmira College beginning at 4:15pm.
