FINAL SCORES

Game 1: Mount Aloysius 12 – Hilbert 4
Game 2: Mount Aloysius 9  – Hilbert 1

Records:  Mount Aloysius 17-11, 9-5 AMCC | Hilbert 2-19-1, 0-10 AMCC

GAME ONE
  • Hilbert built a 3-run lead after the 1st inning and maintained that margin through the middle of the third.  The Mounties, trailing 4-1, strung together 11 hits which led to nine runs (0 errors) and a commanding 10-4 lead.  The Hawks' bats were silenced the final two innings which gave the hosts a 5-inning victory.
  • Kaitlyn Barone opened the game with a single up the middle but was tagged-out off Bailey Budziszewski's  fielder's choice.  Makenna Smith, who walked to first, was plated by Emma McNamara's double, and Victoria Grayson's 2 RBI single to center scored Budziszewski and McNamara, giving the Hawks the 3-0 lead.
  • The Mounties hit a triple which led to that batter scoring their opening run in the bottom of the second before Smith doubled to the outfield at the top of the 3rd.  Bucziszewski's RBI single to left lifted the Hawks back on top by three runs.  MAC's bats came alive in the bottom of the third as they combined for nine runs en route to the early win.
  • Hilbert earned six hits and Grayson led with two runs batted in while Smith and McNamara each poked doubles in the loss.
  • Kaitlyn Barone took the loss and Grayson finished the final 2.0 innings of work striking out two, walking four with two earned runs.
GAME TWO
  • Both teams produced one-hit innings through two innings.  The Hawks scored one run off two hits in the top of the third but surrendered three gives, made two errors which led to four runs in the bottom of the third.
  • Hilbert sent seven batters through the 4th and 5th innings combined and were held scoreless while the hosts slowly pulled away, tacking on two runs in the 4th and three in the 5th for the win.
  • Makenna Smith went 2 for 3, Avery Cusack scored the solo run as Budziszewski, and Brionna Raiser-Russell made contact in the night cap.
  • Hannah Coken struck out three, walked one with five earned runs off 12 hits in the loss in the circle.
