ALTOONA, Pa. – The Hilbert College softball team dropped a pair of AMCC games at Penn State Altoona this afternoon.
The #2 ranked Lions plated two runs in the bottom of the 6th to pull away in game one and found runs in four of their six innings for the night cap win.
Kaitlyn Barone finished the day with two hits and scored two of the Hawks four runs, while
Makenna Smith earned the only multi-base hit for the Hawks.

GAME ONE
- Kaitlyn Barone earned the first walk of the game as the lead-off batter. She placed Hilbert's only run on the board two batters later after Makenna Smith whacked her triple for the 1-0 lead.
- Altoona responded in the bottom half and knotted the game at 1-1 which lasted through five more innings. After the Hawks were retired in the top of the 6th, Altoona tacked their 2nd run off a Hilbert throwing error and stole home for the final run of the game.
- Hilbert earned four hits off 22 at bats.
- Rebecca Marmorato limited the Lions to three hits, struck out two and walked seven through 5.1 innings.
GAME TWO
- After one scoreless inning, Altoona posted three runs in the second and held a 5-0 lead after five innings before the Hawks manufactured a three-run at the top of the 6th.
- After Brionna Raiser-Russell walked and Barone reached on a fielder's choice, the Lions made a pitch change. Avery Cusack then singled, Emma McNamara walked and Bailey Budziszewski's single scored Barone. Victoria Grayson's RBI fielder's choice pushed Cusack home and Hannah Coken's RBI single gave pinch runner Abigail Dent the Hawks third run scored in the inning.
- The Lions posted two more runs in the bottom half and blanked the Hawks' three batters in the top of the seventh for the win.
- Hannah Coken covered six inning giving up 13 hits,and three earned runs while striking out two in the loss.

Hilbert returns to action on Tuesday, April 26th with their final league double header against cross-town rival Medaille College at 3pm.
