HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's basketball team scored a big win this afternoon after they defeated Mount Aloysius College (68-58) in their final game of the regular season schedule.
The Hawks elevated to the No. 4 seed heading into the AMCC postseason tournament and dropped Alfred State College to No. 5 based on their strength of schedule after exhausting the league head-to-head results.
Hilbert will host a First Round play-off game this Tuesday, February 22 in the Hafner Recreation Center at 7pm against the Pioneers with whom they split the series this winter.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Macy Kisner, in 39 minutes of action, posted another double-double this season pairing 23 points with 17 rebounds. She went 13-for-16 from the charity stripe and led with three steals and five offensive rebounds.
- Ashley Schroeder was the game's leading scorer with 25 points, hitting 9-of-12 from the foul line, and added eight rebounds in the full 40 minute game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mount Aloysius jumped out to a 15-12 advantage after 10 minutes of play. Schroeder tossed in 10 of the Hawks points , five from the foul line, one deep hit and two in the lane, while Kendyl Kerner made both her free throw attempts.
- The Mounties still continued to control the scoreboard, outdistancing Hilbert 21-19. Kisner has more looks at the hoop and led with eight points, while Schroeder scored seven but pulled down four rebounds in that run.
- The Hawks brought a different fire to the floor after intermission, outscoring the Mounties 20-12 and then 17-10 in the fourth quarter.
- Mackenzie Catan hit both her three-pointers in the third quarter, leading a balanced team effort with six points.Five different players tickled the twine and Kisner garnered five more rebounds in that 10-minute stretch.
- Hilbert limited Mount Aloysius to a game-low 10-fourth quarter performance, as fouls began to take it's total on the guests. The Hawks made 15-of-18 from the foul line, but only connected once from the floor (1-13).
GAME NOTES
- Mackenzie Catan shot 50% from the arc, hitting a pair when the team needed those points most.
- Grace Zabawa led the Hawks with three assists off the bench.
- Hilbert connected at a 31.6-percent clip from the floor and made only four shots from downtown.
- Mount Aloysius finished the game hitting 31.8-percent from the floor and made 12 three-point shots.
- The Hawks with only 12 fouls whistled against them, gave the Mounties only six free throw attempts. But Mount Aloysius was tagged with 27 team fouls and sent the Hawks to the charity stripe 35 times. Hilbert held a 28-4 advantage in points when the clock was not running.
UP NEXT
- The Hawks now prepare for the program's sixth trip to the AMCC postseason tournament. Hilbert is on a five-year run playing past game 25 in the regular season schedule and has been to the Championship Game three times in the last three years, winning the title twice.
- No. 1 La Roche University will host the tournament's Final Four weekend on Friday/Saturday February 25 & 26. No. 2 Penn State Behrend joins the Redhawks with a First Round bye and they both advance directly to the conference's Final Four.
- No. 3 Pitt-Greensburg with host No. 6 Penn State Altoona while No. 4 Hilbert will host No. 5 Alfred State Tuesday, February 22 (7 pm). The winner of the 4/5 game advances to the opening semifinal game Friday against No. 1 La Roche (6:00 pm) and the winner of the 3/6 game advances to Friday's nightcap semifinal game against No. 2 Penn State Behrend (8:30 pm). The AMCC league champion will be crowned Saturday (3:00 pm) and will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
