Volleyball Taken Down By Pioneers

ALFRED, N.Y.  – The Hawks volleyball team made their final road trip tonight when they traveled to Alfred State College for another Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match.
 
Hilbert was overmatched against the undefeated Pioneers who claimed a 3-0 win in the Orvis Fitness Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED   
  • Hilbert earned a season low 10 points, 7 kills, two service aces, and 23 digs.
  • The hosts finished with 34 kills (.343), 19 service aces and three solo blocks earning  56 points in the match.
  • Ashley Page led Hilbert with three kills and four digs while Jaden Helbig was credited with all of the Hawks assists and Kara Valvo led with six digs.
  • On four separate occasions Alfred State went on four different four-point runs to pull away with a 25-8 win in the first set.
  • The Hawks put up a fight in the second set, playing point-for-point through 3-3 before they built a 6-3 advantage.  The royal and white maintained their lead (7-5) until the Pioneers tacked on another four-point stretch taking a 9-7 lead.  The Hawks kept it a two-point game through a 10-12 score and then fell behind 13-17 which preceded the 25-13 final set score.
  • A-State took control of the third set early and rolled to a 25-9 match victory.

The Hilbert Volleyball team will honor Ashley Page and Casandra Thompson in their final game as a Hawk prior to their 1:00 pm AMCC game against Pitt-Greensburg in the Hafner Recreation Center this Saturday, October 29th.
