The Hilbert College women's soccer team will travel to Alfred State College on Tuesday afternoon for the final AMCC Women's Soccer Game of the Week for the 2022 season.
The Hilbert women's soccer team (6-6-3) has turned things around under the leadership of head coach Scott MacLean and his staff. The Hawks (3-2-1) currently sit in third place in AMCC standings and are attempting to set multiple program records when they travel to Alfred State. With a win, Hilbert will make the program's fourth trip to postseason (the first in six years), but at their highest seed while they tie the program's single season conference victories in the AMCC. The Hawks are led by seniors Grace Zabawa who is ranked fourth in goals (8), second in assists (7) and third in points in the AMCC. Senior Macy Kisner and freshman Gabrielle Avallone have scored seven goals each while freshman Vanessa Van Slyke is always a threat having added five markers. The Hawks sophomore Tahlia Kosek, who typically starts the game in goal, is ranked fourth in goals against and freshman Hailey Kuder is ranked third in saves.
The Alfred State Pioneer women's soccer team (3-3) plays their final regular season and conference match-up this Tuesday ,as they will be celebrating their senior day, along with playing in the AMCC Game of the Week. Jena Schelble has been the Pioneers' leading goal scorer this season. She is tied for 12 in conference with five goals so far this year. Falyn Lewis Ellison has been a force in the Pioneers back line, appearing in every game and coming up with ball stopping tackles in crucial moments. Giana DiMora has been strong in the Pioneer net lately, as she has recorded three straight shutout victories. The Pioneers win streak hasn't come without offense. In those three games they have notched eight goals and have shutout their opponents. The Alfred State team looks to secure a win against Hilbert which will lock up a home playoff match this coming Saturday.
