WOOSTER, Ohio – The Hilbert College Hawks football team traveled to the College of Wooster to line up against the Fighting Scots. The balanced attack from Wooster was too much for Hilbert on the day.
How it Happened:
First Quarter – The Fighting Scots had two long drives capped off by short touchdowns in the first. The first scoring drive was 7 plays for 63 yards which ended with a 4-yard touchdown pass. The next scoring drive was a 5 play 94-yard drive that ended with a 2-yard rush. 14-0 Wooster after 1Q.
Second Quarter – Wooster scored early in the second quarter on a 7-yard pass. Due to a 15-yard penalty Wooster kicked off from the 50 and went for the onside kick which they recovered. They drove 37 yards and scored again on a 2-yard rush.
Kevin Lewis' one handed catch for a first down was absolutely highlight worthy. Unfortunately, the 17-play Hilbert drive resulted in no points as the field goal attempt was missed. Wooster closed out the half with an 80-yard touchdown run. 35-0 Wooster after 2Q.
Third Quarter – Wooster scored halfway through the quarter on their third 2-yard rushing touchdown of the game.
Brody Hopkins connected with
Deondre Rice for a 20-yard passing play. The drive ultimately stalled with no points added on the board.
Kemychal Clark shut down a Fighting Scots drive with a great interception on a 1v1 outside coverage battle. 42-0 Wooster after 3Q.
Fourth Quarter – Wooster added another touchdown late in the game on 4th down and three from the Hawks 5-yard line which concluded an 8-play scoring drive. Rice had another big play in the form of a 40-yard kickoff return on the ensuing kickoff.
Nicholas Rinker ran over a defender to pick up a first down and on the next play he connected with
Andre Augustiniak for a 22-yard touchdown pass. Final Score 49-7 Wooster.
