WEST SENECA, N.Y.- The Hilbert College Hawks hosted the travel Team716 composed of former college hockey players early in the morning on Saturday.
1st Period: The Hawks defense shutdown a high powered offense in the first period thanks in large part to strong play from goalie
Tia Card. Card stopped all 15 shots she faced.
Jacqueline Alaburda,
Kayla Myers, and
Taylor Loretto did a great job handling their workload in their defensive zone.
2nd Period: Team716 added 2 goals with less than 5-minutes to go in the period. Former St. Michael's College player Kristen Spulecki netted the first past
Jewely Monford. Bri Colucci of UMASS-Boston scored the first of her two to end the period.
3rd Period: Colucci started the third period with an early goal against the Hawks. Former Buffalo State Bengal Megan Reukauf made it 4-0 and UB's Frangelica Bautz added the last goal of the game to make it 5-0.
The Hawks' coaches are very happy with how the team rose to the challenge of facing two good opponents after just the first week of practice and never quit mentally or physically.
What's Next: Hilbert College travels to Reading, Pennsylvania, on October 28th to play in the program's first ever NCAA matchup as they take on the Alvernia University Golden Wolves.
