HIGHLIGHTS
  • Makenna Smith went 3 for 4 today and knocked in one run in the early game before she left the night cap game due to injury.
  • Mattison Arnett went 2 for 3 in game 1 while tossing her third complete game of the season.
  • Melanie Basile also went 2 for 3, but in the night cap.
HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1:
  • Altoona pushed four runs over the plate in the top of the 1st and tacked on one in the 5th and two in the 6th.
  • The Hawks found their rhythm in the 6th, when, with bases loaded, Leandra Cruz' base on balls forced Basile to cross home and Makenna Smith's hit advanced Sydnea Schiedel to score Hilbert's second run of the day.
  • Arnett struck out two, walked two and gave up seven hits which turned into five earned runs over seven innings.
GAME 2:
  • Hilbert earned only four hits in the night cap but were walked four times and struck out twice.  They left seven runners of base throughout the five inning game.
  • Altoona pushed all 10 runs into the score book through the first three innings.
  • Basile's double in the bottom of the third gave the Hawks two runners within scoring reach, but a groundout to third killed the momentum of that inning.
  • Rebecca Marmorato (0-3) went two innings with six hits and one strike out.  Hannah Coken finished the game in the circle the last three innings with six hits and three runs.
UP NEXT
  • Hilbert will conclude the regular season at Pitt-Greensburg on Sunday, May 2.
  • The AMCC post-season tournament begins with a play-in game between No. 8 Alfred State College hosting No.9 Hilbert College Thursday, May 6.
