HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1:
  • Makenna Smith scored the first Hawk run in the top of the 1st off Emma McNamara's single to center.
  • The Mounties took the lead after their second batter poked a ball over the fence in the bottom of the 1st.
  • Mt. Aloysius earned four hits and added four runs in the 2nd inning.
  • Grayson connect for her second hit in the 3rd which was a line-drive home run that benefited from the strong winds.
  • The visiting home team continued to find success at the plate by combining three base on balls, three hits and two errors in the field into five more runs in the 3rd and five hits into five more runs in the 4th.  The Mounties posted a 3-run homer in that stretch which extended their lead to 16-2.
  • The Hawks Adriana Vara earned a walk at the top of the 5th, Leandra Cruz singled through the right side and McNamara's fielder's choice advanced Vara to third.  Sydnea Schiedel RBI single sent Vara home for Hilbert's final run.
  • Rebecca Marmorato (0-2) went 2.0 innings, faced 15 batters, with five hits and three earned runs.  Bailey Budziszewski and Kaitlyn Barone shared the final two innings with Barone credited with the Hawks only strike out in the 4th inning.
GAME 2:

  • Mt. Aloysius's ace pitcher was working on a no hitter, until Smith smacked a triple at the top of the 4th.
  • McNamara earned the only RBI with a single back to the right fielder the next at bat and cut the score to a 3-run difference.
  • With one out in the bottom of the 4th, the Mounties placed two runners in scoring position before another ball went sailing over the center field fence.
  • Now, with two more runners on base, the Hawks made a pitching change and had to dig themselves out of several bases loaded situations.
  • By the third out, the Mount added three additional runs and held a 10-1 lead.
  • Hannah Coken earned a hit and her pinch runner Abigail Dent was tagged out at second on Kaitlyn Barone's fielder's choice.  The game ended on an infield pop out.
