HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1:
  • Rebecca Marmorato kept the Mavs off the scoreboard by holding them to three batters in the 1st and faced four batters in the second.
  • Sandwiched in the middle was a two-run inning for the Hawks.  Emma McNamara singled and Melanie Basile hit an RBI double up the middle.  A Medaille throwing error allowed Basile to trot home for Hilbert's second run.
  • Mattison Arnett singled but was tagged out on a fielders choice hit by Victoria Lakeman at the bottom of the 2nd.  Lakeman then stole second base but was stranded with the third out of the inning.
  • Marmorato faced only three batters again in the 3rd which put the Hawks back in the dug out ready to swing.
  • Basile and Grayson (double) each sat on base when Sydnea Schiedel's RBI ground out sent Basile home giving the Hawks a 3-run lead.
  • Makenna Smith and Grayson tagged a Mav out in a run-down on the third base line but after three hits in the 4th, Medaille knocked in their first run.  They then added two more runs off the next at bat to knot the score at 3-3.
  • Hilbert left two on base in the bottom of the 4th then suddenly found themselves trailing 7-3 by the time they picked up their bats in the 5th.
  • Lily Zimmerman pop to the shortstop knocked in Basile for the final Hilbert run of the game in the 5th.
  • The Mavs crossed home one more time in the 6th for the final tally.
  • Grayson went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles, and 1 RBI while Basile went 2 for 3, hit one double and scored three runs.
  • Marmorato (0-1) struck out three batters, walked three, with three earned runs off six hits in her first collegiate start.
GAME 2:
  • Emma McNamara (2), Kaitlyn Barone and Mattison Arnett combined for the four HIlbert hits in the night cap.
  • McNamara went 2 for 3 with a double midway through the six inning game.
  • Hilbert loaded the bases in the bottom of the 4th, but the Mavs turned a double play to end the inning and keep the Hawks off the score board.
  • Medaille expanded a 2-0 lead at the top of the 5th into a 7-0 by the bottom fueled by six hits.  They posted three additional runs at the top of the 6th and held the Hawks in check for the 10-0 win.
  • Kaitlyn Barone made her first appearance in the circle today. She gave up nine hits, five runs in 4.1 innings in the night cap.  She closed the 3pm game in the 7th inning giving up one hit against four batters faced.
