ALFRED, N.Y. – After building a big lead by intermission, the Hilbert College men's basketball team traded buckets the second half against Alfred State College and rolled to a 100-80 AMCC road win.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Hilbert posted their second 100-point game of the fall semester after reaching for 101 at Franciscan November 20.
- The Hawks were credited with a season-high 28 assists and closed the game hitting .519-percent from the floor as five players reached double figure scoring.
- Shaheem Ellis earned game-high honors with 24 points, hitting nine shots from the floor (2-for-3 from deep) while dishing four assists along with two steals.
- Edward Perez added 16 points, was one rebound shy of a double-double while dishing five assists and Shawn Gashi was credited with a Hilbert career-high nine assists (11 points).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alfred State took a 2-0 lead off the tip and had to play catch-up from there. The Hawks scored back-to-back buckets and maintained control until the Pioneers went ahead 9-8 at 16:27.
- Hilbert regained the lead and battled through two additional times where the Pioneers knotted the score.
- The game opened-up around the 12-minute mark after Gashi, Zach Miller and Quran Briggs netted three 3-pointers creating a 9-point spread. Elijah Powell's jumper in the lane made space for the double digit difference which was extended to a 20-point margin with more than five minutes left in the opening period.
- The Pioneers sliced into the lead and pulled within 13 points (42-29) yet the Hawks continued to pour in points and extended their lead back to 19-points by the break.
- Twice, early in the second half, Hilbert built a 25-point lead and held onto a 20-point advantage until 13:25. Alfred State put together an 11-1 run and pulled within 12 (65-53) before Ellis' seven-point run stopped the Pioneers momentum.
- Alfred State got as close as 13 again (8:17 0 76-63) but they had no answer for Hilbert's efficiency on offense.
- Ellis connected on 6-of-8 field goal attempts, hit both three-pointers lighting up the hosts for 17-second half points.
GAME NOTES
- 15 Hawks saw court time today with 10 players getting nine minutes or more.
- Shaheem Ellis established a career-best .563-pecent shooting performance today as he matched his career-high 24 points.
- Perez posted his second back-to-back 16 point game, and Eric Jackson (8 rebounds) matched Quran Briggs and Shawn Gashi with 11 big points from the floor.
- Jahmel Demery came off the bench and went 3-for-3 from the field and was credited with seven rebounds in nine minutes.
- Alfred State had two players notch double digit points and were outworked by Hilbert on the glass (36-53). The Hawks built a 20-8 advantage in second-chance points by the final horn.

Today was the final basketball game for the fall semester for the Hawks. They have 10-days off to celebrate the holidays with their families before they return to campus December 29th in preparation for their home double header on December 3 against Case Western Reserve University.
