Women's Soccer Suffers Another Overtime Loss

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College Women's Soccer team suffered a heart-breaking 3-2 overtime loss this afternoon to cross-town and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe, Medaille College.

All the scoring in regulation occurred in the first half as each team battled for possession the second period.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Grace Zabawa riffled the game's opening goal in the 25th minute after weaving in and out of the Mavericks defense.
  • Medaille notched both their first half goals in a nine-minute span, in the 25th and 34th minute.
  • Zabawa and Macy Kisner moved the ball into the attacking third and connected with a final Hilbert score less than five minutes before intermission.
  • Each team returned to the field with passion in the second half as did the coaches on the sidelines.
  • The Hawks had a few chances to go up on the second half, but the Mavericks defenders broke-up plays in the middle of the field.
  • Medaille served a long ball from right to left into the box in the first 10-minute overtime period and found the back of the net at 94:15 to claim the OT win.

GAME NOTES
 
  • Haylee Jozwiak was credited with 10 saves in her first start of the year, preventing eight goals in the first half.
  • Medaille outshot the Hawks 26-17 and held a 17-9 edge in shots on goal.
  • Grace Zabawa closed the game with a game-high five shots on goal (9 total).  She scored one goal and assisted on Macy Kisner's other hit.
  • Kisner attempted six shots from the field, three on target and Amber Stuck contributed on offense with two shots today.
