Amber Stuck Shines In 2-1 AMCC Win Over Alfred State

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's soccer team saved their best for last and rallied for a 2-1 come-from-behind victory this afternoon over Alfred State College.

Amber Stuck struck twice lifting the Hawks to their second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference win this 2021 season.

THE BASICS
  • Final   Score:  Hilbert 2  I  Alfred State 1
  • Location: St. Francis High School  I Hamburg, NY
  • Records:  Hawks 4-9-1, 2-5-1 AMCC  I  Pioneers 4-10, 1-7 AMCC
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Victoria Stuck connected off Alfred State's first shot of the game from about 25 yards out.  The ball hung in the air and floated over Tahlia Kosek to the back of the net at 3:56.
  • After a 15 minute, drying-off and warming up half-time period, both teams continued to battle through a 1-0 score on the wet turf.
  • Macy Kisner's carry down the right sideline led to her strong centering pass into the middle of the box.  Amber Stuck was fouled in the middle of the box as she was stretching to make a play on the loose ball.
  • Hilbert's Stuck went low and to the right which evened the game at 1 each at 77:56.
  • Then, about four minutes later, Grace Zabawa fed Stuck again for the game winner in the 82nd minute.
  • The Hawks hung on for the win even though they experienced a fright in the 86th minute when Alfred State "goalie interference" wiped out what initially was perceived as a scored goal.

GAME NOTES

  • Stuck score all three goals today – Victoria for A-State and Amber for the Hawks.
  • The Hawks kept their shape on the field and delivered strong passes to their teammate's feet.
  • Hilbert had a few open shots which could have opened the game up in the first half if they were on target.
  • Alfred State built a 19-9 lead in shots but only held a one shot ongoal advantage (7-6).
  • The Hawks did not attempt a single corner kick but defended perfectly the eight Pioneer corners.
  • Kosek made six saves in 86:51 minutes before she left the field after the goalie interference call late in the game.  Haylee Jozwiak finished the final 3:09 minutes without facing a shot.
