Hawks Earn 3-2 Win While Brock Earns Trifecta In Assists

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College outlasted Thiel College this afternoon on the wet and slippery pitch as they earned a 3-2 non-conference women's soccer victory.

Hannah Brock earned a hat trick in assists as she lifted the Hawks to their third win this fall.

THE BASICS
  • Final   Score:  Hilbert 3  I  Thiel 2
  • Location: Hawks Varsity Field I Hamburg, NY
  • Records:  Hawks 3-8-1 I  Tomcats  4-9-1
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The rain started just as the first kick was made and the students in the stands who stayed for the full 90-minute soaking were inspiring to the players.
  • It took a good ten minutes for both teams to get comfortable playing on the wet grass.
  • Then at 19:54 Hannah Brock delivered a perfect pass to Macy Kisner who one touched the ball to the back of the net for the first point in the game.
  • Less then four minutes later, Grace Zabawa put the ball at Brock's feet off a corner kick.  Brock pushed it back to Zabawa on the end line and Zabawa bent the ball back into the net from the left side of the field for the two-goal lead.
  • Thiel's Kelly Clark carried the ball up the left sideline and connected into the upper right corner at 40:53 and sent both teams to a dry half time with a one-goal margin.
  • Fifteen minutes into the second half, after a Hilbert foul was called in the box, Kate Sollers knotted the game off a penalty kick.
  • The sky opened up again around the 70th minute and just under four minutes later, Brock found Kisner again for the game winner.
  • After the game concluded, the entire Hilbert women's soccer team did body slides in the huge puddle that formed during the contest as a way to celebrate the hard-fought win.
