The Bobcats Outlast the Hawks in Volleyball

 GREENSBURG, Pa. – Hilbert College women's volleyball fell in straight sets at Pitt-Greensburg in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match this morning.   

THE BASICS
  • Final Score:  Pitt-Greensburg  25, 27, 25   I  Hilbert  14, 12, 10
  • Location:  Chambers Hall, Greensburg, Pa.
  • Records:   The Bobcats  2-16, 1-3  I  Hawks 0-14, 0-6
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ella Fuller's kill pulled the Hawks within one point (6-7) early in the opening set before the hosts went on a five point run.  Back-to-back kills by Maria Spinelli and Katie Kociszewski sliced the margin to 13-17.  The Bobcats earned only three of their final eight points to take the set win.
  • Greensburg sprinted to a 10-2 lead in the second set and stretched it to 20-9 before finishing with a 25-12 victory.
  • The Bobcats jumped ahead 11-0; four Hilbert kills put them on the scoreboard but still trailing 5-18. Greensburg held the Hawks to only one additional earned point before the final whistle.

GAME NOTES
  • Hilbert earned 15 kills (.014), 27 digs two block assists while the Bobcats collected 24 kills, 18 service aces, two block solos, two block assists and 37 digs.
  • Katie Kociszewski earned four kills, Abigail Elisofon led with 11 assists and Kayleigh Chudoba was credited with nine digs.

The Hawks will return to the Hafner Recreation Center Wednesday, October 20 when they host Buffalo State College in a 7pm non-conference game.  Hilbert will honor their senior prior to the first serve, so please stop by early and cheer-on Abigail Elisofon, Jessica Cruz-Jackson, Kayla Kuzara, and Ashley Page.
