COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The Hilbert baseball team closed their 2019 season with a split series at SUNY Cobleskill this afternoon.
The Hawks opened the day with a 6-4 win over the NEAC league opponent and then dropped their final game of the season 8-7 to the Fighting Tigers.
Hilbert (8-26) suffered 4, one-run defeats in their last five losses of the season.
Tristan Aldinger went 5-for-7 with one RBI and one double. He became the newest Sonic, the Hedgehog character stealing six bases while scoring four runs.
Zachary Crane picked up his third win of the season going the full distance in his AMCC league-leading 5th complete game.
GAME 1
Hilbert built a 4-2 lead through three innings and fought off the Fighting Tigers come back in the 4th when they knotted the score at 4-all. The Hawks tacked a run on in the 5th and 7th and Crane held tight in the final two innings for the win.
Aldinger went 3-for-3, stole three bases, scored two runs with an RBI.
James DiSanti went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Griffith DeMayo each stole one base in the win.
Crane went a full 7 innings, struck out five, walked one with two earned run off six hits.
GAME 2
After trailing 4-3 at the top of the 2nd, Hilbert manufactured two run in the 4th and two more in the 6th. Now trailing 7-4 before the bottom of the 6th, the Fighting Tigers roared back with four runs and took the lead, 8-7. Hilbert went through three batters in the top of the 7th in the loss.
Aldinger went 2-for-4, stole three bases and scored a pair of runs while
Zach Amato connected on two hits and knocked in 2 RBI.
Joseph McNabb took the loss after 4.1 innings with one walk, three earned runs off four hits.
Several baseball players finished their season with career records this spring. Aldinger sits in a tie for #1 spot in All Time Triples (8) and
Michael Goodberry is the All Time leader in Most Appearances (59), Most Games Finished (22) and in a #1 tie for Most Saves (3).
