HAMBURG, N.Y. - The Hilbert College athletics department extends an invitation to the entire Hilbert College campus community which branches out to families, friends and alumni to attend the men's and women's basketball teams double header set of games tomorrow.
On Saturday, February 16, both basketball pograms will honor their senior student-athletes in brief pre-game ceremonies before the Hawks host their final regular season game of the 2018-19 season.
Coaches
Amy Senefelder and
Rob deGrandpre will celebrate the outstanding contributions
Joseph Braniecki,
Morgan McNeill,
Katelyn Proy and
Nicholas Parucki have given their respective programs prior to the start of their games tomorrow.
The 14-3 women's basketball team squares off against the 7-10 Bobcats at 1pm in the Hafner Recreation Center. Hilbert is currently knotted with La Roche College at the top of the league standings which makes the Greensburg game a must-win if the Hawks want to host the AMCC Semifinal and Championship rounds next weekend. The Bobcats are also aiming for a win which might give them a spot in the Top 6 in the league, depending on all the tie-breaking scenarios. Check the
AMCC website tomorrow night for the post-season tournament pairings and site locations because it is too close to call right now.
The 5-12 Hilbert men's basketball team hosts Greensburg (4-13) in a 3pm tip-off. Both teams have fallen out of the top 6 who move on into AMCC postseason play, but they will be battling for pride. The Hawks had their four-game win streak broken February 13 in a 77-76 defeat to D'Youville with .04 seconds on the clock. The Bobcats are on a four-game losing skid as they travel to Western New York for their final game of the season.
The 17-0 La Roche Redhawks are set to host the men's AMCC Championship Tournament with Penn State Behrend securing the #2 seed. There is still some movement within the men's side as seeds 3 through 6 will be determined after tomorrow's final scores are reported. Check the AMCC website for the
men's side of the tournament tomorrow night.
Thank you to all our fans this winter who supported both the women's and men's basketball programs. Please show up again tomorrow and make some noise so our seniors can go out with a bang!
