Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. - The women's soccer team fought hard today against Pitt-Bradford, but fell 5-1 after a strong second half lifted the Panthers past the Hawks.
Due to weather conditions, Hilbert traveled to Buffalo to host Pitt-Bradford on neutral ground at Dobson Field. The Hawks came out of the gates strong, holding the Panthers to just a single first half goal, while scoring a goal of their own, to head to the intermission all tied up at one.
After the intermission, the Panthers came out firing on all cylinders, putting constant pressure on the Hawks defense, which resulted in a 21-5 shot advantage on the day. However, the Hawks kept it close for the majority of the game. The Panthers held a narrow 2-1 lead through 70 minutes of play, before finding the back of the net 3 times in the final 20 minutes of play to score a hard fought AMCC win.
Freshman
Grace Zabawa scored her first career goal to put Hilbert on the board in the first half, and logged both of the Hawks shots on goal for the game.
Brianna Stegmeier added nine more saves to her career total, while going the distance in net.
The women's soccer team has a quick turnaround as they travel to Steubenville, Ohio on Saturday to take on Franciscan University at 3:15pm.
