BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Hawks softball team dropped their final game of the regular season to Mt. Aloysius (8-3) in a make-up game from last weekend's rainout.
Hilbert completed the league schedule with a 9-9 record and earned the program's second appearance in the AMCC post-season double elimination tournament which begins in two days.
The Hawks made three very impressive diving plays defense but the Mounties poked 14 hits which manufactured runs in five of the seven innings.
Morgan McNeill and
Maia Delaney earned Hilbert's two hits while Delaney and
Alyssa Barnas pushed in two runs.
Delaney made it to 3rd base in the bottom of the 3rd off an RBI triple and then Barnas' ground-out scored Delaney which sliced into Mt. Aloysius' 3-2 lead.
In the 4th,
Morgan Grosch reached first off a throwing error and scored McNeill which turned out to be Hilbert's final run of the day.
Rachel Allen tossed a14-hits, six earned run game with four strikeouts in the loss.
The 2018 AMCC Championship Tournament is being hosted by the #1 Penn State Behrend Lions this weekend. The final seedings haven't been determined because of the final league double header being played tomorrow at Dobson Field featuring D'Youville and Mt. Aloysius.
