LATROBE, Pa. – Senior goalie
Ryan Valentine posted another double-figure saves effort but Hilbert College fell in a 2-0 loss to Saint Vincent this afternoon in men's soccer..
The Bearcats earned their second victory of the season (2-4-1) as the Hawks drop to 0-4.
The hosts rode a 1-0 lead to intermission after their found the back of the net in the 11th minute against Valentine.
Saint Vincent stretched their advantage to two points after a quick goal just over 10 minutes into the second period.
But the Hawks didn't quit. They combined well and created very good offensive chances in the second half as they rallied for a come-back victory.
"Our sustained possession is something we can build on," said head coach
Mike Ertel.
Valentine was credited with 10 saves and both
Brandon Bundschuh and
Ryan Schupp finished with two shots each while
Garrett Rehner tallied one.
Hilbert returns to campus tonight and will be ready to host Cazenovia College tomorrow for another non-conference match. The Hawks game will begin at 1pm on the varsity field with free high definition live streaming.
