GREENSBORO, N.C. – Hilbert College suffered a tough 9-8 defeat to Greensboro College this afternoon in men's lacrosse. 
The Hawks (0-2) stopped for a non-conference game as they traveled back to Western New York at the conclusion of their week-long spring break training in Myrtle Beach.
Hilbert trailed 7-4 heading into the final quarter of the game.  They scored two quick goals in the first three minutes and made it a one-goal game. 
Greensboro scored back-to-back goals about 30-seconds apart and stretched their lead back to a 3-goal difference.  The Hawks, still in the scoring mode, tallied once in the 7th minute and then the game's  final goal with 30-seconds remaining.
Sophomore 
Edward Mathias tallied three goals and added three ground balls.  Senior 
Nathaniel Hyman also earned three points behind two goals and an assist.  He scooped four ground balls and caused one turnover.
Senior 
Matthew Simon led the offensive attack with eight shots (1 assist) and the defensive effort with four caused turnovers.
Hilbert won 15 of 20 face-offs with a large majority of them won/taken by sophomore 
Justin DeLaRosa.  Freshman 
Casey Hixon won 5-of-6 face-offs and added four ground balls.
Hilbert outshot the Pride 38-30 with a 22-18 advantage in shots on goal.  The Hawks also won the battle 42-29 in ground balls.
Senior 
Adam Zawadzki was credited with nine saves.
Hilbert takes to the road again for their next game.  The Hawks will travel to La Roche College for an AMCC match-up against the Redhawks at 2pm March 18.
