PITTSBURGH, Pa – The Hilbert College men's lacrosse team picked-up their first victory of 2017 today. 

The Hawks jumped out early and continued to build steam as they rolled to a 26 – 6 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory over La Roche College.

Tyler Nicoloff earned 12 points to lead the Hawks who built a 15-5 lead over the Redhawks by half time.  Adam Zawadzki was credited with two saves (39:05) for his first win in the frame this season.

Hilbert doubled La Roche's performance in ground balls (54-26) and face-off wins (24-10) while the Hawks more than tripled their efforts in shots (67-22) The Hawks converted on 8 of 13 man-up opportunities.

Nicoloff was involved in 50% of Hilbert's goals, as he scored six times and assisted on six other hits.  The third-year player earned four ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Edward Mathias added eight points between his five assists and three goals. Austin Laine chipped in four goals and six ground balls as eight other Hawks scored goals this afternoon.

Tyler Balsavage led the defense until with five caused turnovers and worked for five ground balls.

Both Marc O'Neill and Justin DeLaRosa each scooped seven ground balls while DeLaRosa led the Hawks in the face-off circle (15-18).

Hilbert took an 8-2 lead after the first quarter and added seven more scores as  La Roche tallied three times for the 15-5 half time score.

The Hawks limited the Redhawks to a single score in the third quarter en route to their first 20-goal victory.

Hilbert (1-2) is set to travel to Alfred State for another AMCC game March 25.
