HAMBURG, N.Y. – For the first time this season, every player who stepped on the court for Hilbert College contributed in the scoring column as the Hawks took command early and cruised to a 107-75 Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference victory over Mt. Aloysius in men's basketball action.
Hilbert improved to 15-10 and 11-7 in the league. The Mounties closed their season at 3-22 overall and 3-15 in conference play. Even before the game, Hilbert locked up the 5th seed in the 2017 AMCC Playoffs which start next week.
The Hawks will travel to #4 Penn State Altoona for a Wednesday, February 22 game at 7pm in one of the 1st Round games that night. #3 La Roche will host #6 Pitt-Bradford in the other opening game of the championship tourney which will be hosted by #1 Medaille College February 25 and 26. The Mavericks and #2 Penn State Behrend earned byes and move right to the semi-final games Saturday afternoon. Medaille will face the winner of the Hilbert/Altoona game and Behrend will battle the #3/#6 winner. The Championship game will be played in the Sullivan Center at 1pm Sunday with the winner advancing to the 2017 Division III National Championship tournament.
Nicholas Parucki led the Hilbert attack today with 26 points sinking 50% of his shots from the floor (2-3 beyond the arc). The sophomore forward also grabbed 10 rebounds for his 1st career double-double and 1st every double-digit rebound game.
Jalen Smith came off the bench on senior day and chipped in 15 points, hitting 5-of-7 jumpers.
Hunter Martineau matched his average and dished for seven assists while grabbing five rebounds and scoring seven points.
Derrek Carman added 11 points.

Kyle Kline tossed in nine and five points, respectively.
Within the game's first 43-seconds, each team reached from down town lifting the energy level of the crowd. Martineau's layup and ensuing free throw stopped the back and forth lead changes during the first seven minutes of the game. The freshman point guard, who is the only Hawk player to start every game this year, gave Hilbert a 2-point lead which they began to stretch.
Five minutes later, Smith canned a deep ball for the first 10-point lead and the Hawks were on a roll after that. Smith again reached from beyond the arc for a 49-29 lead with less than one minute left in the first half.
Carman finished the first half with a traditional 3-point play and opened the second half with four quick points building a 56-31 score.
Hilbert finished the game with an impressive 56.9 field goal percentage with a 10-for-22 rate from the 3. The Hawks' bench outscored the Mounties 49-17 with a 50-34 advantage in the paint off a 19-8 2nd chance points stat.
