MBB at La Roche, Tabbed AMCC Game of the Week

AMCC Men's Basketball Game of the Week:
Hilbert College @ La Roche College
Saturday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m.

The AMCC men's basketball game of the week features two of the three remaining undefeated teams in conference play. Hilbert College (5-2, 3-0 AMCC) travels to Pittsburgh, PA to take on La Roche College (4-3, 2-0 AMCC) in a Saturday afternoon match-up. Hilbert and La Roche enter the game with almost identical offensive outputs, as the Hawks average 78.7 points per game and the Redhawks average 78.0.

The Hilbert College Hawks have been hot as of late, winning four straight after a bumpy 1-2 start to the season. Three of those victories have come against conference foes, including Pitt-Bradford, Penn State Altoona, and a recent big victory over cross-town rival Medaille College. Hilbert sophomore point guard Hunter Martineau averages 11.3 points per game, while dishing out a league-leading 24 assists in AMCC action. Forward Joseph Braniecki is fifth in the league with 7.0 rebounds per game, while also averaging over 10 points per game.

La Roche is looking to get back in the win column after dropping their last two games, both of which were non-conference match-ups. Prior to their two-game skid, the Redhawks had won four straight, including victories over conference opponents Franciscan University and Pitt-Bradford. Sophomore guard Trell Thomas has been pouring in 17.9 points per game, tying him for tops in the conference, while also ranking ninth in the league with 20 assists. The Redhawks are led under the glass by senior forward Arnes Bagjora who averaged 6.0 rebounds per game. Junior guard Ray Quan Phifer ranks sixth with his 42.3 three-point field goal percentage, draining 11 of 26 on the season.
