BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's bowling team participated in their first two-day tournament this weekend at Classic Lanes in Kenmore hosted by Medaille College.
The Hawks went head-to-head against five opponents on Saturday and entered into the Best of Seven Pool Play this morning. Hilbert showed signs of a new program as they went 0-10 but they did grab individual-game wins within the Baker matches.
Medaille claimed the championship of its own invite with a 9-1 record. A pair of NCAA Division II schools, Daemen College and Roberts Wesleyan, went 7-3 while Saint Vincent College split the results at 5-5. Pitt-Bradford, an AMCC opponent, took two wins, both over the Hawks.
On Saturday, Hilbert finished with 3,578 in the Five Game Baker Matches. Their highest score, 758, was against Roberts Wesleyan.
The Hawks out-shot Medaille in the second game (168-158) in Round 1, took a pair against Saint Vincent (159-152 and 201-139) in Round 2; game 5 against Roberts Wesleyan in Round 3 and almost got the best of Pitt-Bradford in Round 4. Bradford earned their first win with a three pin advantage against the Hawks (699-696) after each team claimed two wins but finished game 4 knotted 119 each.
All matches on Day Two were Best of Seven Baker. Hilbert tallied 3816 Total Pins through 27 games.
The Hawks suffered straight losses to Roberts Wesleyan and Daemen, but took Medaille to five games having won game 4 (214-188).
