Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Scoreless Second Half Leads to Defeat

HAMBURG, N.Y. – After battling to a 4-2 half time lead, the Hilbert College men's lacrosse team lost their scoring touch and fell to Bryn Athyn College 5-4 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action this afternoon.

Hilbert held advantages in several statistical categories with the most impressive one being a 44-29 in shots.  The Hawks just couldn't sneak one past the Lions goalie who finished with 19 saves.

James Duffy scored his 19th goal this season getting the Hawks on the board at 14:16 in the opening minute. Andrew Tirabassi found the back of the net six minutes later and lifted Hilbert back to a 2-1 advantage heading into the quarter break.

David DeCocq set a 3-1 lead  at 10:30 and just thirty-seconds after Bryn Athyn cut the difference back to one-goal at 1:46, Patrick Crangle stretched the Hawks back to a 4-2 half time lead.

The Lions scored three 3rd quarter markers to take the 5-4 lead.  Neither team had any success scoring in the final session and the game ended in favor of the visitors.

Justin DeLaRosa went 7-11 in the face-off circle for the Hawks and Nathaniel Hyman (8) and Garrett Rehner (6) were active chasing down loose balls on the grass.

Austin Good, Rehner and Aaron Valino each were credited with two caused turnovers as they protected the frame.

Brenden Deady made some great point-blank shot saves and finished with nine stops in the full 60-minute game.

Hilbert, 4-5 and 2-2 in NEAC will travel this Sunday for a 2 pm contest at Morrisville (3-0).
