HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's volleyball team made the last set exciting as they battled back from a big deficit, but the Medaille Mavericks claimed a three-set victory tonight in a non-conference match.
Neither team hit exceptionally well, although Medaille did finish slightly in the positive with a .069 attack percentage. The Hawks struggled to put the ball down closing with a -.091 percentage. The visitors led with 28 kills to Hilbert's 18 in the 25-19, 25-12, 25-23 final.
Anissa Quiroga collected six kills to lead the Hawks offense.
Kamalei Lene assisted on 16 of the team's kills and three players reached double figures in digs, led by
Ashley Viengmay's 14.

Chelsea Adamski (four kills) finished with 12 and 11 respectively.
Morgan Ott and
Amanda Binder each posted one solo block on defense.
In the final set, Medaille held a 21-10 lead before the Hawks cut it to 21-16. Medaille earned a point on a kill and
Amanda Binder knocked a kill down herself. The Mavs committed a hitting error before
Serena Tecl scored an ace to make it 22-19. After giving up one more point,
Anissa Quiroga tied the score at 23-23 thanks to a
Chelsea Adamski kill and forced a Medaille timeout. The Mavericks scored the final two for the win.
The Hawks return to action this weekend when they travel to Penn State Altoona for the first pool-play weekend of AMCC league games. Hilbert faces Franciscan University at 12 pm and then Altoona at 4pm. Both games will be lived streamed.
