ROCHESTER, N.Y.– The Hilbert College women's volleyball team took the floor in the opening game for the Golden Flyers Invitational this afternoon. The Hawks fell in straight sets to Nazareth College (25-17, 25-12, 25-14) in the 2pm game before they suffered another 3-0 loss at the hands of Hartwick College at 6pm.
In both games, Hilbert was credited with fewer kills and errors which led the break down in their offense today. Against Nazareth, the Hawks connected for 16 kills and only 14 in the nightcap.
Against Nazareth,
Morgan Ott led the Hawks with nine kills (.286). As Ott has rotated to a hitter, first-year
Kamalei Lene moved to the setting spot and assisted on 13 of Hilbert's kills. Junior
Serena Tecl was credited with three service aces and
Ashley Viengmay slapped down two more aces besides the 12 digs she touched.
Chelsea Adamski helped at the net and finished with four kills.
At the end of the evening,
Kamalei Lene served up five aces and added 10 assists, many to
Morgan Ott who collected six for the match. Viengmay was active in the back line getting to 18 digs while
Chelsea Adamski (12) and
Anissa Quiroga (11) posted double-digit digs.
Hilbert returns Rochester for day two of the Invite and will battle RIT at 11 am before they face The College of Brockport at 3pm.
