Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Ott Posts First Career Double-Double For Volleyball

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Hilbert College returned for day-two of the Golden Flyer Invitational volleyball tournament and dropped both games at Nazareth College.  Morgan Ott led the Hawks with 2.5 kills per set and Ashley Viegnmay continued to shine on defense with 4.67 digs per set.  Kamalei Lene connected with 4.33 assists per set as Hilbert fell to 0-8 overall.

RIT grabbed the first match of the morning 25-16, 25-19, and 25-18.  The Hawks held a 9-6 advantage in the first set before the Tigers took a 10-9 lead en route to the victory.  The second game was closer than the score indicates.  Neither team was in total control but RIT strung together four kills and a service ace to claim set two.  In the third set, with the score knotted at 8-all, RIT slowly crept away from Hilbert for the set victory.

Morgan Ott produce her first double-digit kill game (11) with Kamalei Lene assisted 17 times.  Anissa Quiroga and Ashley Viengmay each posted 13 digs and Ott chipped in 10 digs.

Against Brockport, Hilbert held a 3-2 lead after the first five possessions.  Brockport took over and built a 10-6 and 15-5 lead before they closed out for the 25-5 win.  The Golden Eagles won the second set 25-14 and the final set 25-18. With a close game early in the second set, Hilbert found themselves stuck on 7-points while Brockport doubled their score to 14. And in the third set, the Hawks took an 8-7 lead and tied it up again at 9-9 before Brockport's offensive clicked in and took over at the net.

Anissa Quiroga (5), Morgan Ott (4) and Chelsea Adamski (3) combined for all 12 of Hilbert's kills.  Ashley Viengmay was credited with 15 digs and Kamalei Lene ended with nine assists.

Hilbert returns to action Wednesday, Sep 16 with a return trip to Alfred State for a single game at 7pm.
