STEUBENVILLE, OH –
Nikki Schneider and
Megan Smith accounted for all seven goals in Hilbert College's women's lacrosse 12-7 road loss to Franciscan University of Steubenville today.
Chantelle Mikolajczak earned the Hawks' single assist and
Stephanie Glaza added 13 more saves to her career total.
The Hawks picked up 13 ground balls with Schneider credited with eight of them as she also converted twice off their four free position shots.
Franciscan scooped up 24 ground balls and scored only three times off their eight FPS.
The Barons were one better than Hilbert winning 11 of the 21 draw controls on the day but
Hilbert was outshot 28 to 14 in the sixty-minute contest. Megan Smith broke-open the day's scoring with two quick goals within the first nine minutes of the game. Franciscan put three consecutive tallies together to take a 3-2 with 8:15 on the clock.

Franciscan went on a six goal run, putting three more points on the board before intermission and adding three more within the first four minutes of the second half. With a 9-3 lead, Franciscan held on the final second half for the win.
Hilbert outscored the hosts 4-3 the last 25-minutes of the game. Schneider converted both free position shots into scores while netting one unassisted goal. Smith posted her third hit with 9:40 left.
Hilbert (0-9) returns to action when they host Hiram College April 18 at 2p.
