BRADFORD, Pa. – Pitt-Bradford handed the Hilbert College women's basketball team an 83-42 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss in the Hawks' first game after the new year.
Hilbert was led by
Shannon Rogers who pulled down 11 rebounds and added 10 points and two steals.
Amber Hay also chipped in 10 points and was credited with one block for Hilbert (0-8).
Kelsi Ebert made 50% of her attempts (3-6) to finish with six points and two assists.
Bradford's Alicia Kimmel led five Panthers who notched double figures, posting 20 points by hitting 10 of 13 attempts from the floor. Ali Rinfrette added 17 points and finished with 10 rebounds and a game-high seven assists for the hosts.
Bradford jumped out to a 46-25 half time lead and continued to push the tempo in the second half. Hilbert faced a hot-shooting Bradford team who sank twice as many baskets as the Hawks (36-18). Bradford opened the hitting 54% of their attempts but cooled in the second period to 37%.
Hilbert had a tough time shooting tonight as they carded a 27.7 field goal percentage. The Hawks attempted 16 shots from long distance, but gathered only three makers for the game.
Hilbert matched the Panthers rebounding efforts, yet the Hawks were whistled for 30 turnovers while they only gathered-in just eight steals.
There was an eight point swing in points in the paint (Bradford 34, Hilbert 26), but Bradford outscored the visitors 35-0 in points off turn overs.
Hilbert returns to action this weekend when they travel to La Roche College (Pittsburgh, Pa) for a double header AMCC game beginning at 2pm.
