Botsford Named to All-Tourney Team; Hawks Drop 4

FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's volleyball team went 0-4 during the two-day, non-conference tournament at the Blue Devil Invitational hosted by Fredonia State October 4 and 5. Hilbert moved to 7-14 overall, but remains a perfect 3-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference league standings.

Fredonia State opened their tourney with a 3-0 win over the Hawks. Hilbert fought to a 25-22 first set, but struggled in the second and third sets (25-12, 25-19). Sophomore Allegra Johnson was the only Hawk to finish with positive hitting percentage (.192) and she ended with 10 kills. Jordan Botsford led with a game-high 16 digs while Shannon Memminger assisted on 16 of the team's 17 kills.

In a rematch against conference foe La Roche College, Hilbert continued their offensive struggle dropping three straight in a non-conference game (25-23,25-22,25-21). Neither team had a player reach double-digit kills, but the RedHawks had four players finish with double-digit digs preventing Hilbert from putting an offensive streak together. Botsford and Chelsea Reischuck each earned six kills while Botsford was credited with 14 digs. Olivia Tom had her first game-high service ace honors finishing with four.

Hilbert took on Westminster and RIT October 5 and suffered two loses to close-out the tourney.

Chelsea Reischuck led the offense with 11 kills and, four Hawks earned double-digit digs, led by Reischuck's 12. Memminger assisted 25 times in the Hawks (25-23, 25-12, 25-20) loss to Westminster.

Hilbert took RIT to four-sets to close the tourney, but did not claim a rematch sweep victory. Botsford led the Hawks with 10 kills and 11 digs while Allegra Johnson chipped in nine kills and three service aces in the 25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17 loss.

At the conclusion of the two-day event, Jordan Botsford earned a spot of the All-Tournament team. Hannah Manning (Fredonia State) was named the tourney MVP, joining Sarah Szybist (RIT), Tori Pernell (La Roche), Jessica DiChristopher (Fredonia State) and Lexi Starheim (Westminster).
